When the coaches at Illuminate call out the kettlebell circuit you know the intensity is about to spike. It starts with the swing which is the heartbeat of the whole thing. You are not just tossing weight around because you are using your hips to drive the bell and if you do it right you feel that snap in your posterior chain. Then you move straight into the goblet squat and that is where you really have to fight to keep your chest up. It forces you to stay honest with your posture because if you start rounding your back the bell lets you know real quick.
It is a flow that forces you to be present. You start with the swing and the coach is always watching to make sure you are snapping your hips instead of pulling with your arms. That move alone sets the pace for the entire block because it forces your heart rate to climb instantly. Then you go right into a goblet squat and that is the part that breaks people down. You are holding the weight right against your chest and every fiber in your core has to fire to keep you from falling forward.
The best part is how they string it together so you never really put the bell down until the set is done. You might do a clean to get it into position and then go straight into alternating lunges. It is a grind but it is the kind of work that builds real athleticism. You are training your grip strength while your legs are screaming and your lungs are begging for air. It makes you feel like you are actually learning how to use your body as a single unit rather than just isolating muscles. By the time you finish the circuit your hands are tired and your legs feel like jelly and you know you absolutely crushed the work they put in front of you. That is why everyone keeps coming back for it. It is raw and it is effective and you cannot cheat your way through it.
The studio is committed to providing a welcoming and supportive environment for all its members.

The Sweat Standard: The perfect workout in one hour.
This class combines cardiovascular training with strength training using a variety of equipment such as barbells, kettlebells, dumbbells, battle ropes, and resistance bands. You will spend 50% of the class working with weights and the other 50% on a cardio machine. The definitive workout for real results!
Sweat Express:
A 45 minute class. The format is very similar to the Standard class but with shorter sets.
Great for those who want to burn calories but are short on time!
Sweat Just Lift:
A 60 minute class for those looking to focus exclusively on strength training.
The programming for this class is aligned with the Standard class to ensure you do not miss any of the primary lifts. For example, on Mondays the focus is on quads and abs. This is a great option for those who have other cardiovascular training options during the week.
The new space has an intense focus on recovery, performance, and community, offering ice baths and saunas, which is something unique for the Houston area.
Recovery and Performance: Consultations available every Friday at the studio for treatments focused on muscle and joint recovery.
